The Masters of the Environment Professional Graduate Program (MENV) at the University of Colorado Boulder invites applications for a part-time Lecturer in the Capstone Program to teach professional development topics as part of the Capstone Innovation Lab (CIL) course series. Topics include: design thinking for career design, professional communications, professional development strategy, design of consulting deliverables, and professional relationship-building/networking. This is a one-semester appointment for the Fall 2022 semester (August – December 2022) with the possibility of extension. The anticipated start date is August 15, 2022.

The Capstone Project is the centerpiece of the MENV degree, engaging students in collaborative impact-driven hands-on work on a year-long, team-based project. The MENV Capstone Innovation Lab (CIL) series is a set of three workshop-based 1-credit classes designed to develop students' professional practice. MENV inspires and develops sustainability leaders through applied and accessible education, professional practice, and meaningful partnerships. The CIL course series uses design thinking practices to create an incubator for students to envision, strategize, and implement their professional vision and goals. Students take one CIL course per semester, for a total of three courses over three semesters. MENV offers multiple sections of each CIL course in order to offer students a high-quality experience with 25-35 students per class section.

The successful candidate will bring vision for how early-career and mid-career professionals in the sustainability and environmental management space can design their professional practice and act on their career strategy. Students value curriculum delivery that includes relevant examples from MENV’s specialization areas (and adjacent areas of professional practice), which include: renewable and sustainable energy; sustainable food systems; environmental and natural resource policy; urban sustainability and resilience; and sustainability in the outdoor industry.
