What your key responsibilities will be:
The MENV program is seeking a Graduate Student Assistant (GSA) to support the Renewable & Sustainable Energy (RSE) Specialization. The RSE Graduate Student Assistant will provide general support for the specialization, and will be directly supervised by the MENV RSE Specialization Lead.

The position will build and maintain relationships with current students, prospective students, faculty, alumni, staff, and community partners through direct involvement in activities and developing communications, including the RSE newsletter, and presentations to various audiences. In addition, the RSE Graduate Student Assistant will work with the RSE Specialization Lead to plan events, including field trips, workshops, and other professional opportunities for the RSE Specialization.

This position has no grading responsibilities and the GSA will not have access to students’ academic work. The time commitment is 10 hour/week. The MENV RSE GSA should be generally available during the following periods:

Summer 2024 (optional and lower level of effort)
July 1 – August 22

Fall 2024 Semester
Aug. 23 – Dec. 10, 2024

Spring 2025 Semester
Jan. 10 – May 4, 2025

Additional Specialization and Program Support (as needed)

  • Compile, organize, analyze, and track specialization data and metrics as needed
  • Coordinate scheduling of specialization meetings, reserving space, and take notes as needed
  • Assist with the coordination of specialization events for the RSE Specialization
  • Attend and assist with internal and external MENV events as a representative of the MENV program
  • Provide general office support, including assisting with printing, copying, mailing, event planning, etc.
  • Provide specialization specific content for the “Weekly Digest” and other MENV communications
  • Respond to email and phone inquiries regarding general program or RSE Specialization specific questions from prospective, new, and existing students
  • Coordinate scheduling, travel, and other logistics for specialization field visits, workshops, guest speakers, recruitment and networking events, off-campus meet-ups, etc.
  • Assist with the planning and coordination of community events, such as a specialization happy hours – for either the program or specialization
  • Act as ambassador of MENV program on and off campus
  • Assist with the creation of information packets for prospective students
  • Meet with prospective students as necessary
  • Assist with the coordination of events for prospective students
  • Attend information sessions, open houses, and admitted student events
  • Assist with RSE alumni relations and communication.

What we can offer:  
The hourly wage for this position starts at $20/hour up to 10 hours a week during the regular semester (fewer hours during the summer term). More information on Student Employee benefits can be found here.

What we require:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university

  • The ability to work independently and on a team
