Who We Are:

The Masters of the Environment (MENV) Graduate Program at the University of Colorado Boulder is an interdisciplinary professional master’s degree that equips students with the knowledge, skills, and experience necessary to address complex environmental challenges in the 21st century.

The MENV program prepares students to become leaders in a wide range of industries, including consulting, planning, energy, natural resources, sustainability, and more. Through a comprehensive approach to professional education, MENV students learn to understand and address, through a systems lens, the human dimensions of environmental challenges.

Students simultaneously gain valuable professional experience working with an external client organization embedded within a natural, scientific, and entrepreneurial ecosystem that is unrivaled anywhere in the world.

What We Are Seeking:

The MENV Graduate Program is seeking a first-year MENV Student who is a self-starter with the desire to: build connections, share their creativity, build on or develop skills around programing, and share their passion for DEI within the sustainability space. This position will support the Assistant Director of Diversity Affairs & Student Success, serve as the DEI Committee Coordination Lead, provide MENV community support, and support other priorities yet to be identified. Through these tasks and activities, you will strengthen justice, equity, diversity, and inclusivity within MENV.

What Your Responsibilities Will Be:

  • Support for the Assistant Director of Diversity Affairs & Student Success
    • Meet weekly with Assistant Director of Diversity Affairs & Student Success
    • Provide administrative support including notetaking, coordination e-mails, organization and review of documents, etc.; and
    • Organize, prepare, and distribute a regular newsletter on JEDI activities, including those achieved by and related to the MENV DEI Committee
  • MENV DEI Committee Coordination Lead
    • Lead MENV DEI Committee meetings, including monthly open committee meetings and monthly working meetings;
    • Build coalitions through supportive coordination and communication as needed with MENV committees and organizations, such as the Student Council, as well as on campus JEDI Committees and relevant community organizations; and
    • Co-plan MENV DEI Committee sponsored retreats & speaker series, which includes but is not limited to outreach, scheduling, logistics planning, and facilitation
    • Facilitate training of the next DEI GSA, during spring semester of your full first year
  • MENV Community Support
    • Guide those involved in the MENV DEI Committee, as well as students and faculty seeking support
    • Work with MENV administration, faculty and DEI committee members to implement priorities identified through the JEDI strategic planning process;
    • Support or provide inclusive input into the MENV strategic planning process; and
    • Support recruiting activities, tabling, etc., when applicable.
  • Support other priorities yet to be identified.
What we can offer:

What we require:
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
What you will need:
  • Familiarity with and/or capacity to learn online workspace tools (i.e., mail, calendar, drive, office suites, forms, and virtual meetings) including Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and Canva
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to apply judgment and discretion and maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining accuracy
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others or independently, as the situation requires
  • Highly organized and attentive to details with good planning skills
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to change
  • Preferred: experience with DEI and/or MENV, vision & strategy planning, and leadership
