Team 28: Locomotive Diesel Engine Oil Strainer Inspection Process
Abstract
Wabtec remanufactures locomotive engines for reuse. Oil strainers that protect engines from debris must meet rigorous post-cleaning inspection standards before reuse. Our product scans strainers with automated camera positioning and custom-trained computer vision to flag defects as small as 1 mm that may disrupt operation. This precise inspection ensures strainers are cleaned to safe levels.
