Team 19: Mars Low-Cost Hard Lander Mechanical Design
Abstract

NASA’s Mars Exploration Program is planning low-cost missions to Mars to create scientific instrument networks. To realize this goal, the team designed and tested a small, low-cost hard lander that uses crush material to deliver a 24kg payload and survive a 300m drop without controlled descent. It has durable components and a dust-clearing system to withstand 4 years in the harsh Mars environment.
