The mechanical engineering communication and external relations team is seeking research story ideas that may be a good fit for EurekAlert and broader media pitching.

If your lab has recently published a research paper, or is scheduled to in the near future, please reach out to Alexander Servantez or fill out this story collection form with a summary of the work and some times throughout the week you are available.

Join the ME community to celebrate the holidays and observances of the fall season! Enjoy free food tastings and interactive activities hosted by ME student organizations, classes and campus groups.

The event will be held on Thursday, October 30 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.at the courtyard underneath the Engineering Center and is open to all ME students, faculty and staff. Come share your traditions and help us celebrate our community's diverse and inclusive culture.

The Outstanding MS Mechanical Engineering Student Award is back for its third semester! This initiative, funded by the graduate program, aims to recognize the exceptional contributions of our MS mechanical engineering students in their academic and research endeavors.

Nominees must be students who are actively enrolled in graduate-level courses that demonstrate excellence in a way that elevates their own learning and that of others. Award recipient(s) will receive a monetary award to their student account.

The deadline to submit nominations is Friday, October 31 at 5 p.m. MT. Please refer to the nomination form for detailed eligibility requirements and nomination examples.

The college is seeking nominations for the 2025 Caelan B. Lapointe Memorial Graduate Scholarship. Established by Dr. Caelan Lapointe, an expert in computational fluid dynamics who received his PhD in mechanical engineering from CU Boulder in 2021, the scholarship is geared towards graduate students who have shown exceptional achievement or potential in computational science and engineering.

One scholarship will be awarded to a current CEAS graduate student in the amount of $4,000. PhD and MS students at any stage of their education will be considered and additional preference will be given to students who are active participants in the Campos Student Center.

Faculty advisors should email a nomination packet to megrad@colorado.edu that includes a nomination letter, a student CV and a personal statement from the student outlining their research and activity with the Campos Student Center by 5 p.m. on Monday, November 3 for full consideration.

Weekly coffee breaks are continuing throughout the semester every Wednesday morning at 9:30 a.m. in ECNT 114. Stop by for coffee, cookies and a chance to take a quick break and connect with colleagues!
