CU Boulder Paul M. Rady Department of Mechanical Engineering - Call for Senior Design Projects - July 2024

Dear alumni,

The CU Bouder Mechanical Engineering Senior Design Program remains a professional development highlight for students, and we hope you have fond memories of the course. Behind the scenes, faculty and staff work hard to recruit meaningful and robust projects that students could embrace with sufficient challenge and excitement. On our website, you can find examples of last year's projects and more information about sponsorship.

While we have offered projects to students over the years that have come from a wide variety of industries, we've consistently found that those offered and mentored by alumni of the program have been particularly successful. It is with this in mind that we ask you to consider supporting a project in the 2024-25 academic year, as next year's budgetary planning is already in full swing. If this academic year does not work, please keep us in mind for future years.

The benefits of project sponsorship include:

  • Community/university/student engagement
  • Recruitment opportunities, particularly in a tight labor market
  • Vetting of new ideas that may lead to product development with sponsor retention of intellectual property
  • Personal and professional development for mentors who advise the students over the span of the academic year.

If you are interested, please contact Industry Liaison Alan Goodman. Class starts in mid-August, and we work with clients to refine project proposals from now until early August on a first-come basis. Thank you very much for your consideration of our program.

Best,
