CU Boulder’s undergraduate programs had a strong showing in U.S. News and World Report’s Best Undergraduate Engineering and Best Undergraduate Computer Science rankings for 2022, with two programs in the top 10 among public institutions and five more in the top 20.

Coming in in the top 10 among our public university peers were: 

  • Aerospace engineering sciences (No. 6)
  • Environmental engineering (No. 9)

Making it into the top 20 engineering programs were:

  • Chemical engineering (No. 14)
  • Civil engineering (No. 17)
  • Mechanical engineering (No. 18)
  • Electrical engineering (No. 19)

This was the second year U.S. News and World Report has ranked computer science programs. CU Boulder’s program ranked No. 18, with special recognition in artificial intelligence (No. 14).

Overall, the College of Engineering and Applied Science was ranked No. 18.

The rankings were released on the U.S. News and World Report website on Sept. 13. Undergraduate rankings are based on assessments of 1,466 U.S. bachelor's degree-granting institutions on 17 measures of academic quality, including graduation and retention rates, financial resources per students, and average alumni giving rate. Read more about their methodology
