Alumna wins federal honor for 3D printing innovations

A researcher at the National Institute of Standards & Technology Boulder Laboratory, Callie Higgins (MElEngr’14, PhD’17) was among 13 winners of the 2021 Samuel J. Heyman Service to America Medal, honoring excellence in the federal workforce.

Thanks to the generosity of 21 donors, we raised more than $2,000 for the department’s Excellence Fund throughout November, leading up to Giving Tuesday on Nov. 30.

Engineer Jim Wagoner (ElEngr’65) wrote to The Coloradan this summer, hoping to connect with other CU graduates to see how they are doing. Email editor@colorado.edu to connect with Jim. 

After several management jobs at corporations including L’Oreal and many startup experiences, Ehsan Shariati Varnosfaderani (MElEngr’10) co-founded the Functionland corporation. The company provides open-source technology to help users create their own personal server.
