Michael McGehee faculty portrait Professor Michael McGehee, the James and Catherine Patten Chair in the College of Engineering and Applied Science and Renewable & Sustainable Energy Institute Fellow, joined the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering in 2018. He is also a Fellow of Materials Science and Engineering and is jointly appointed at the National Renewable Energy Lab. Previously he served as professor of Materials Science and Engineering at Stanford. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of California at Santa Barbara in 1999. The McGehee group focuses their research efforts on perovskite solar cells and dynamic windows with adjustable tinting. This research focused on the group’s prior pioneering research on organic light-emitting diodes and lasers, light extraction from LEDs, light trapping in solar cells, charge transport in organic semiconductors, nanopatterning, organic and dye-sensitized solar cells and semi-transparent electrodes based on meshes of carbon nanotubes or silver nanowires.
