Application FAQ

Q: Who is eligible to apply?

A: This event is targeted at those demonstrating deep intellectual capability as evidenced by being close to earning — or having recently earned — a PhD in Aerospace Engineering or in a closely-related field on a topic. Specifically, applicants must be within 1-2 years of receiving their doctoral degree at the time of the symposium or must have received their PhD no earlier than May 2024. Participants must not currently hold a tenure-line faculty position.

Q: Does my PhD need to be in aerospace?

No. Applicants with degrees in other engineering majors who are interested in aerospace as a career are encouraged to apply.

Q: Can international students apply?

A: Yes, we encourage applications from international students, although our funds probably cannot stretch to covering international travel.

Q: May I participate if I have attended in previous years?

A. No, we aim to reach the broadest pool possible and encourage fresh participation each year. If you have attended in previous years, you are not eligible to apply.

Q: What expenses for participants are covered?

A: We will arrange travel or reimburse pre-approved travel costs for those selected to participate. We will provided shared lodging and all meals during the symposium.
