Apply Now

Application Deadline: April 17, 2026 (11:59pm EDT)
Late applications will be considered on a space-available basis.

Anticipated notice of acceptance: April 22, 2026

Participation in the symposium will be determined through a competitive application process. Eligible applicants should be within 1-2 years of receiving their doctoral degree at the time of the event (i.e., should have obtained their PhD no earlier than May 2024). Applicants must not currently hold a faculty position.

We anticipate selecting approximately 20 participants based on academic excellence, a commitment to advancing research in aerospace or related fields, and demonstrated leadership potential.

We strongly encourage applications from graduate students and postdocs from groups or backgrounds that are under-represented in aerospace engineering and would benefit from networking and from opportunities for frank discussions with mentors.

Application Materials Required

  • Research Statement (maximum 1 page, PDF)
  • CV, including a list of publications (no page limit, PDF)
  • One Brief Letter of Recommendation from current / past PhD advisor or a current supervisor, one-page max, speaking to these questions:
    • Confirming that the candidate is eligible: on-track to receive PhD within 1-2 years, or has received PhD no earlier than May 2024 and not in tenure-track faculty position now.
    • Merit of the candidate — are they a future leader in aerospace?
    • What do you hope the candidate gets out of the symposium?
