Human Subjects CITI Training
The Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI Program) is an online training platform where CU Boulder staff can access various research compliance courses. CU Boulder requires all researchers involved in human subject research to complete and obtain training with a minimum passing score of 80% on the CITI Human Subjects Research course appropriate to their field of study.
Renewal & Expiration
Human Subjects CITI training is valid for 3 years after completion. Researchers must complete and pass the CITI Human Subjects Research refresher course every three years.Researchers will receive a reminder from CITI to complete the refresher course every 90, 30, and 7 days prior to their training expiration. One final reminder will be sent after a researcher’s certification expires. It is the researcher’s responsibility to keep CITI trainings current.
All human subject protocol submissions will be returned without review if any key personnel (e.g. principal investigator, co-investigators, faculty advisor, etc.) on a study does not have a valid training status.
