Starting Your Program
Welcome to the MS-DS program, Data Buff! This page brings together the essential steps, timelines, and resources to help you transition smoothly into the program and start strong from day one.
To Do
If you have not already let us know that you will be attending CU Boulder and paid the $200 enrollment deposit you may do so on your application status page.
Before you can register for classes, you must activate your CU username and IdentiKey password. You will need your student ID number from your official admittance email.
All CU Boulder faculty, staff and students receive a CU Boulder email account. We will use this account to communicate with you, so please use your IdentiKey to log in and start using it.

- Complete the MS-DS Enrollment Survey so we can register you
- Await enrollment!

If you receive an offer of admission and confirm your intent to enroll, you will be required to submit your official transcript(s) to Graduate Admissions from all institutions where credit was earned.
As a graduate student, you have a few orientations that will prove helpful in creating a smooth transition.
Transitioning BAM Students
In the final semester of your bachelor’s degree work, complete these steps to continue with the master's degree:
- Apply to graduate with your bachelor's degree.
- Submit a master's continuation form.
- Submit a BAM supplement form to identify which courses you're double counting and which you're using toward the master's degree.

You can choose to begin in summer if you'd like an early start, or even choose to take a gap semester. You can select your desired start term with the master's continuation form linked above.
Meet with an advisor to discuss your next steps. If your enrollment window is open, they may be able to assist you with registration.
