Clara Houghteling (she/her) is in her second year of the MENV program's Urban Resilience and Sustainability specialization. Her interests center on using collaborative planning and stewardship as a driver of social justice and socioeconomic equity, especially at the intersections of land use planning, affordable housing, and crisis preparedness. For her Capstone project, she is working with the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) on wind energy equity and energy justice initiatives. She also serves on the inaugural student editorial board of the Journal of Climate Resilience and Climate Justice, published through MIT Press. Before joining MENV, Clara worked at the United States Supreme Court as a case analyst and an aide in the Chambers of Justice Sotomayor. She graduated from Colorado College with a B.S. in history and sociology in 2018. Born and raised in northern Colorado, Clara loves getting outside for long hikes and ski days, as well as staying in to watercolor, sew, design historical costumes, and write.
