Xu's research is in the fields of human-AI interaction and dialogue systems. More specifically, she hopes to develop computational approaches and tools to enhance the evaluation and design of dialogue systems that can behave effectively and ethically. Her research uses a range of techniques such as natural language processing, deep learning, and brain imaging across multimodal interaction contexts.
