The CU Public Interest Internship Experience (PIIE) application is open for applications! PIIE internships empower students to make a positive impact in the Boulder/Denver communities by partnering with local non-profit and government organizations. As we continue to partner with these impactful organizations, we want to make note that some organizations were not able to participate due to the budgetary impacts of COVID-19.If you are a student who is passionate about serving and strengthening our community and environment, PIIE is the right program for you! This upcoming summer, we are excited to be working with:

• Chef Ann Foundation
• Environment for the Americas (2 Internship Opportunities)
• I Have a Dream Foundation of Boulder Valley
• Intercambio
• NIST (2 Internship Opportunities)

Not only will PIIE interns gain valuable experience, but they will also receive a stipend of $4,680 for up to 360 hours over the summer! In addition, interns will participate in professional development days throughout the summer, have access to advisors, and interact with other interns to network and gain additional skills.

Requirements:

• Must be a full time undergraduate student at CU
• GPA of 2.5 or higher
• Must have completed 2 semesters after high school by January 2021
• Must be continuing as a student into the Fall 2021 semester

Have you ever thought about teaching? Want to give it a try? If so, the GT Summer Teaching Fellowship is for you. Generation Teach partners with local schools to provide undergraduate students with high-quality teaching experiences. The fellowship includes two weeks of training and six weeks of teaching small groups of middle-school students. Fellows receive daily coaching and support and a $2,800 scholarship. Join the Climate Action Network for International Educators (CANIE) and The GREEN Program (TGP) for a series of free virtual live events focused on gaining understanding, initiating collaboration, and amplifying action grounded in the intersections of climate change and racial justice in international education.

The CU Boulder Environmental Engineering Virtual Network Event will take place on February 11th. A participating company, Hazen and Sawyer, will conduct 10 minute sessions for students to speak with representatives 1-on-1 about the company and job openings. Hazen is welcoming students with backgrounds in chemical, environmental, and civil engineering. If you are interested, please sign up for this event here.

MD/PhD students from University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Scientist Training Program (MSTP) are hosting an MD/PhD Panelon March 23rd from 6:00 – 8:00 pm! 

This event is open to all students from surrounding Colorado universities.

Current MD/PhD students from the Anschutz School of Medicine will answer questions about why they choose a combined degree program, what a day in the life of an MD/PhD student is like, and what makes an application competitive for MSTP and other MD/PhD programs. Connect with CU Engineering Fellows at ChBE

Feb. 5, 10-11 a.m.

Heinrich Jaeger, professor of physics at the University of Chicago, will speak at the next RMMSS from 10-11 a.m. on Feb. 5 via Zoom. He will discuss emergent applications for designed granular matter. The series provides all CU Boulder faculty, staff and students with the opportunity to hear from researchers across disciplines from various institutions and is organized by the college.

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is seeking undergraduate students to serve as guest researchers for the Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) Program.
