ChBE Temporary Faculty Position (Adjunct)

Individuals who previously held the rank of full Professor, Associate, or Assistant at a comparable higher education institution with a desire to establish a high level of participation in the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering activities, may be appointed as Professor Adjunct, Associate Professor Adjunct, or Assistant Professor Adjunct.  Adjunct faculty members are hired on a course-by-course, part-time, non-tenure track basis.  The title of full Professor, Associate, or Assistant Professor Adjunct will be dependent upon the last rank held by the individual in a comparable institution.  If the permanent faculty believes an individual’s qualifications and experience warrant an adjunct appointment even though the individual has not previously held a professorial rank, the title of Assistant Professor Adjunct normally would be recommended. These positions are not tenure-eligible and are at-will.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teaching courses in chemical and biological engineering or related fields on behalf of the department, and/or fulfilling a major department service role.

What We Require:

  • PhD in chemical engineering, biological engineering or a related field.
  • At least three years of relevant experience teaching university courses as a Professor, Associate Professor, or Assistant Professor; or as a Teaching Professor, Teaching Associate Professor, or Teaching Assistant Professor.

Required Application Documents:

  • Resume/CV
  • Other application materials may be requested.

Compensation for Adjunct Professors who teach courses or provide comparable time on service assignments for the department ranges from $1,000 - $6,000 per credit hour (11% time), depending on the teaching or service assignment, and required qualifications.

Adjunct appointments are temporary in nature and are not eligible for benefits.
