CU Women’s Team Named USTFCCCA Scholar Team of the Year; Five Buffs Garner All-Academic Honors

NEW ORLEANS — The University of Colorado women's cross country has been named the USTFCCCA Women's Scholar Team of the Year after winning the 2018 NCAA Championship and recording a 3.376 cumulative GPA. In addition, the Buffs placed five individuals on the all-academic teams for the 2018 season.
 
Individual honorees must have compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or greater and must have finished as an All-American (top 40) or among the 25 finishers (or 10 percent) in their regional meet. 
 
Senior Makena Morley recorded her third spot of the team with a 3.53 GPA while majoring in anthropology. Another senior, Mackenzie Caldwell, received her second award. She is an accounting major with a 3.80 GPA.
 
Junior Sage Hurta is making her third appearance on the team. She has recorded a 3.97 GPA while majoring in chemical and biological engineering. Junior Tabor Scholl made the academic team for the first time in her career. As a communication major, she currently owns a 3.33 GPA.
 
On the men's side, junior Joe Klecker is making his third straight appearance on the team. A biochemistry major, he owns a 3.59 GPA.
 
Hurta, Klecker, Morley and Scholl were All-Americans in 2018, while Caldwell recorded all-region honors and was the alternate at the NCAA Championship.
