Construction Engineering & Management

Desi is focusing on construction engineering and management. Specifically, Desi is conducting research to better understand and mitigate risk as well as understanding the best process for making risk adverse decisions regarding the construction of infrastructure projects in countries which lack significant infrastructure.

After earning their B.S in Nuclear Engineering from Missouri University of Science and Technology, Desi worked as a mechanical engineer designing multi-disciplinary systems, managing stakeholder interests, and supervising safety. They then went on to work as a field engineer for a general contractor. Desi has also served as a president, project manager, design team leader, or mentor for five Engineers Without Borders chapters over the past eight years. Desi has also served as an Engineering tutor, teaching assistant, and construction crew leader.

In their spare time, Desi loves hiking, weight lifting, swimming, painting, and attending metal concerts.
