Michael Shirt
Chemical & Biological Engineering

Michael Shirts is an associate professor in the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering. His lab uses computational approaches to design and improve materials at the molecular scale and works on computer-aided drug design. Shirts joined the faculty in 2015 after several years at the University of Virginia. He is a recipient of the NSF Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) Award and the American Chemical Society COMP OpenEye Outstanding Junior Faculty Award. Shirts earned his PhD from Stanford University.
