Matthew Hallowell is an associate professor in Civil, Environmental & Architectural Engineering. He also holds an appointment in the Department of Environmental and Occupational Health at CU Anchutz Medical Campus. He is the faculty director of civil engineering and the director of the President’s Teaching and Learning Collaborative at CU Boulder. He earned his PhD from Oregon State University, with a dual focus in construction engineering & management and occupational safety & health. Hallowell conducts research in construction safety, specializing in injury prevention strategies, predictive analytics for safety, leading indicators, hazard recognition, risk management and cost modeling. He has won the National Science Foundation CAREER Award and the Construction Industry Institute Outstanding Researcher Award.
