What To Expect: ProReady 2020
Although COVID-19 has made a significant impact on our world, the college remains fully committed to your career success through the ProReady initiative. Even with an uncertain economy, employers are still seeking CU Engineering students. Here’s what you can expect with ProReady activities as you start the year:
Chart Your Career Path
As a result of the pandemic, it is even more important to take ownership of your career path.
- The Engineering Career Services team will continue to support your ProReady journey, and has recently launched a new website with great just-in-time resources. All Engineering Career Services appointments can now be booked through Buff Portal, with drop-in and online chat sessions also available.
- In addition, advisors and faculty can help you maximize your academic experience, explore graduate school options, and take advantage of department-based career programs.
Gain Relevant Experience
COVID-19 has not stopped CU Engineering students from gaining the relevant experience needed to be competitive for jobs after graduation.
- Employer hiring remains strong; there are thousands of full-time jobs, internships/co-ops, and short-term projects posted on Handshake, so start applying today!
- Research, entrepreneurship, and leadership opportunities will continue to be available throughout CU Engineering and campus partners.
- CU’s Education Abroad office is accepting applications for spring and summer 2021, so start planning now to go overseas.
Grow Your Professional Network
All career fairs this year will be hosted online, mostly via the Handshake Virtual Career Fair platform.
- Be sure to have an updated Handshake account and check the “Events” tab to register for all career fair and prep sessions dates. Employer information sessions will also be online with new sessions being scheduled on a daily basis, so check Handshake often for updates.
- Student organizations and professional societies will continue to be active both online and in person.
- We’ll soon be launching an online platform that connects students to CU Engineering alumni for networking and mentoring opportunities. Look for updates later in the semester.
