Honors and Recognition

Penny Axelrad delivered the 2024 AIAA Brill Lecture earlier this month at the National Academy of Engineering.
Her talk, titled “The Evolution and Impact of Global Navigation Satellite Systems”, discussed the evolution of GPS from a military navigation system into a global utility, and outlined where today’s new advances in utilization of signals-of-opportunity, optical communications, atomic clocks, and quantum sensing might lead.
Axelrad was presented the award by former CU Engineering Dean Bobby Braun, who delivered the lecture in 2022. Watch the lecture on YouTube.
