PhD student Margaret Scott (Advisor: Jade Morton) has earned a 2023 NASA FINESST fellowship. The honor provides up to $50,000 annually for three years to cover tuition, expenses, and student-designed research projects. Scott is one of four Smead Aerospace student to receive the honor for 2023. Nick Dietrich, Ben Hogan, and Andrea Lopez were announced as honorees last week.

Iain Boyd was interviewed for a new piece in Logically Facts that tries to get to the bottom of why conspiracy theorists are linking directed energy weapons to disasters.

Academic building access hours are changing campuswide, including to AERO. These changes are a requirement from the Provost's office.

Fac/Staff and Grad Students will continue to have 24/7 access with Buff Cards. These changes primarily impact undergrads:

Starting Sunday, Sept. 24:

• Mon- Friday open 7:30-5:30. After hours access from 7am - 10 pm via Buff Card.
• Sunday access is 7am -10pm via Buff Card
• Closed Saturdays

Join us on for "Successful and Replicable Programs for Promoting Inclusive Excellence in STEM" with Professor Michael F. Summers, Ph.D.

In his presentation, Dr. Summers will spotlight the remarkable success of the Meyerhoff Scholars Program at UMBC in promoting inclusive excellence and share insights into the efforts to replicate this success at other universities.

This event is a fantastic opportunity for faculty, staff, and graduate students to gain valuable insights into inclusive excellence in STEM and discover ways to implement similar strategies within our academic community.

Join the Research & Innovation Office for a discussion about the annual Research & Innovation Seed Grant Program. Designed to catalyze new areas of research, scholarship and creative work, the Seed Grant Program awards nearly $1 million annually to Boulder faculty across all disciplines. This event will be held at noon on Nov. 8 via Zoom. In it, RIO will convene a panel of previous recipients and attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions.
