Making robot-human interactions safer

Robotics research led by Morteza Lahijanian is being highlighted by ASME.
The American Society of Mechanical Engineers has posted an article about Lahijanian's work in making human-robot interactions safer.
Lahijanian is an associate professor in the Ann and H.J. Smead Department of Aerospace Engineering Sciences and an expert in safe automation. The article focuses on new algorithms developed by his team to help robots make the best possible decisions in uncertain or risky situations.
“How do we go from very structured environments where there is no human, where the robots are doing everything by themselves, to unstructured environments where there are a lot of uncertainties and other agents?” Lahijanian asked.
