Community Edition - March 7, 2021

Through the spring semester, campus officials are providing weekly updates. In this issue: the new CU Boulder vaccine sign-up form; CU Boulder a provider of Johnson & Johnson vaccine; reminders on university-related travel, research and event activities; and more.

To honor and remember the lives lost in the past year, CU Boulder joined the state of Colorado remembrance March 5 with a magenta-colored light display from the tower of the Roser ATLAS building.

CU Boulder will hold a livestreamed commencement ceremony May 6 to recognize the many accomplishments of graduates. In addition, as part of Grad Appreciation Days, students are invited to attend several in-person opportunities leading up to the virtual commencement events.

Distinguished Professor Tom Cech will present a virtual lecture titled “The Magic of RNA: From CRISPR to Coronavirus Vaccines," focusing on how RNA has become better understood and how those discoveries have unlocked exciting new medical possibilities.

Erin Dolgoy, an assistant professor at Rhodes College, examines different approaches to and understandings of modern science, what science means, what it promises, how it's practiced and what it can reasonably prove.

A nation-wide effort first launched in New Hampshire in 2009 is enlisting gun retailers in the fight against suicide. Researchers at CU Boulder want to learn how it's working and what can be done to make it work even better.
