It is necessary for students and faculty to configure their own computing environment to connect to Workshop resources. Collected here is the documentation to assist with this.

If you require technical assistance, please contact Jeff Lessem by email or post in the Day 0 & Tech Support category on the ISGW Forum.

The linked documentation includes both text descriptions and short video examples.

Accessing the Workshop cloud computing environment

Practicals will be conducted on Zoom and in the Workshop cloud computing environment. Access to the Workshop computing cluster requires only a web browser, but students might find it useful to install a local SSH client. It is strongly recommended that a desktop or laptop computer is used for this access, as the practicals will make heavy use of the keyboard.

The cloud computing environment is accessed at https://workshop.colorado.edu.

Using the ISGW Forum

The ISGW Forum is a message board that has been setup for discussion of all topics related to behavior genetics. It has topic categories for general BG questions, as well as categories for questions specific to the 2022 Workshop's daily lectures and practicals. Everybody, whether attending the Workshop or not, is invited to join the forum to discuss behavior genetic topics. There is a brief introduction to using the forum.

Asking anonymous questions on the ISGW Forum

See the ISGW Forum documentation for instructions on asking anonymous questions.

Copying files using the command line

Instructions for installing an SSH client and using it to access the Workshop cloud computing environment, plus RStudio Server

Access to the Workshop cloud computing environment and RStudio will require a modern web browser, but a locally installed SSH client may be useful. It is strongly recommended that a desktop or laptop computer is used for this access, as the practicals will make heavy use of the keyboard.
