Margaret Hegwood
2021 Award Winner

Margaret Hegwood is an ENVS Phd Student and a USDA Food Technology and Food Security Fellow at the University of Colorado Boulder. She is interested in building an improved understanding of the socio-economic and environmental impacts of new food technologies. Before coming to CU, Margaret received her B.S. and M.S. in Biological Engineering from Purdue University, where she acquired significant experience working on food security through internships with the USDA Foreign Agricultural Service and Land O’Lakes, Inc. as well as her research as a DoD Boren Fellow for National Security and Strategic Language Learning. She aspires to use her technological background to advise domestic and international governments on critical global agriculture issues.
