Bio
Before starting work on his PhD, Dayton worked as a journalist for nearly a decade covering climate, ecology, animals, and politics. He is the former associate editor of In These Times magazine, the former editor-at-large for Barn Raiser, and the host of Storytelling Animals podcast, and his writing has appeared in Vox, Sierra, Boston Review, and elsewhere. His academic research focuses on the ethical implications of animal agency, the well-being of wild animal individuals, and methods to take nonhuman interests into account in political and economic decision-making.
