Amir Dehbi

  • Ph.D. Student
  • ENVIRONMENTAL STUDIES

Amir is a research fellow and a PhD student in the Environmental Studies Department at the University of Colorado Boulder, where he focuses on applying machine learning to wildlife conservation research. As a data scientist and applied AI researcher, his work combines large-scale datasets, deep learning, and field ecology methods to develop models that help decode gray wolf communication and improve monitoring of this endangered species in the United States. Amir collaborates closely with researchers in Yellowstone National Park and is an Applied AI Research Fellow, jointly funded by Colossal Biosciences, Conservation Nation, and Yellowstone Forever. Before beginning his doctoral studies, he spent eight years in the software industry, including five years at Google as a cloud infrastructure, data science, and AI specialist. During that time, he helped several large organizations plan and deploy cloud computing, data science, and machine learning projects on the cloud.

Research Interests
