Think cybersecurity is just for techies? Think again. Your mobile phone, wearable devices and even your smart refrigerator are capable of being hacked. But researchers from our newly rebranded Technology, Cybersecurity and Policy (TCP) program are working to stop cybercrime before it happens. Learn about the threats that exist, how CU researchers are anticipating and preventing security risks, and how the TCP program is addressing the national shortage in cybersecurity workforce.

Meet the Speakers
Hunter Albright
Lecturer, Strategy, Entrepreneurship and Operations at CU Boulder and Co-Founder/CEO of Curve10
Albright’s teaching interests are in the area of strategic management, entrepreneurship, technology innovation, and product management. His research interests focus on entrepreneurship, innovation, product management, and the application of advanced technologies and analytics (including AI, Blockchain, and IoT) in commercial ventures. As the Co-founder and CEO of Curve10, he helps companies grow through experimentation, developing ideas and opportunities that transform businesses. He speaks regularly on topics related to innovation and entrepreneurship and advises entrepreneurial ventures and accelerators.
Bobbie Bastian
CTE Computer Science teacher at Bollman Technical Education Center and President of the Colorado Computer Science Teachers Association (CSTA)
Bobbie is a CTE Computer Science teacher at Bollman Technical Education Center in the Adams 12 Five Star School District where she teaches AP Computer Science, AP Computer Science Principles, Intro to Computer Science and Cybersecurity. She has 12 years of teaching experience in both the elementary and secondary levels. Additionally, Bobbie is the President of the Colorado Chapter of CSTA and was on the Colorado Computer Science Standards Development Committee.
Dan Massey
Director of Technology, Cybersecurity and Policy (TCP) and Professor of Computer Science at CU Boulder
Massey joined CU in 2018 and is responsible for maintaining traditional TCP strengths in network engineering and telecommunications policy while building the program into the university’s home for cybersecurity education and research. Prior to joining CU Boulder, he was a Program Manager in the Cyber Security Division, Science and Technology Directorate, U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS). At DHS, he developed and managed the Cyber Physical Systems (CPSSEC) program that focused on cyber security for automobiles, medical devices, building controls, and other systems that combine the cyber and physical worlds.
Nolen Scaife
Incoming Assistant Professor of Computer Science at CU Boulder and Chief Product Officer at Skim Reaper
Nolen Scaife will join CU Boulder’s faculty over the summer. His research addresses fundamental weaknesses in existing payment systems and networks with a particular focus on deployability. Nolen’s work on payment systems security and ransomware has been covered by the Associated Press, Forbes, and numerous other media outlets. Additionally he is a co-founder of CryptoDrop and Skim Reaper.
