The student communications assistant produced high-quality written and digital communications for internal and external audiences. Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Engineering Communications and the Director of International Programs, this position will be responsible for researching, interviewing, writing, editing, proofreading, web editing/design, social media, and other duties.

As a dual member of the college’s communications team and international programs team, the position produces consistent and coordinated messages in compliance with college and university branding guidelines.

Specific functions include:

  • identification and dissemination of impactful global experiences and opportunities forengineering students and faculty members
  • research and writing
  • maintenance and development of webpages using CU’s WebExpress platform
  • social media content creation that enhances the college’s reputation and highlights itsglobal footprint with key constituencies
  • design and distribution of posters, newsletters and other materials (print and digital) tosupport college programs and special events

Communications and Marketing (50%)

Works with members of the engineering communications and international programs teams to produce news articles, features, posters, newsletters, podcasts, videos and other publications for the college and its departments and programs.

Digital and Social Media (45%)

  • Updates the college website and associated microsites, including colorado.edu/engineering-international
  • Creates social media content to meet strategic communication and globalization goals

Administrative Support (5%)

  • Undertakes other duties and responsibilities as assigned

What we’d like you to have:

  • Major within the College of Engineering and Applied Science
  • Experience using graphic design tools (specifically Adobe Creative Suite)
  • Knowledge of WebExpress or experience using a Content Management System
  • Photography and videography skills
  • Global experience

Hours: 10-15/week

Pay: Starts at $16/hour
