Dan Schwartz is the Glenn Murphy Endowed Chair and former department chair in Chemical and Biological Engineering. Schwartz is senior editor of Langmuir, a fellow of the American Chemical Society and American Physical Society, and was founding director of the NSF Research Experiences for Undergraduates Site Program in Functional Materials. A two-time recipient of the Dean’s Performance Award for Outstanding Research, Schwartz’s research interests include biomolecules at interfaces, surface modification using molecular self-assembly, and single-molecule microscopy methods. He joined the faculty in 2001 after several years at Tulane University. Schwartz earned his PhD from Harvard University.
