Photography Student Assistant

Position Summary:
The College of Engineering and Applied Science (CEAS) at the University of Colorado Boulder is seeking a motivated and creative student worker to join our video & photography production team. In this role, you will have the opportunity to gain practical communication skills, to work in a collaborative team environment and to develop creative solutions for communication projects. You will be required to capture and edit high quality photos to fulfill communication needs, learn professional metadata applications and manage digital asset databases. This role is an exciting opportunity to utilize your creativity, gain practical experience in photography production and post-production, and contribute to the success of CEAS.
Work Schedule:
10-20 hours per week. A consistent weekday work schedule will be established based on available hours Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. with intermittent photo coverage on nights and weekends depending on the timing of shoots, events and programming.
Responsibilities:
- Assist full-time staff with photo shoots
- Independently capture and edit photos for social media and digital and print marketing campaigns
- Assist with digital asset database and metadata management
- Collaborate with the College's communications team to ensure brand consistency and adherence to guidelines
- Accurately edit video closed captions on the College’s YouTube channels
- Maintain production equipment and equipment storage spaces ensuring that the equipment is kept organized and in excellent condition
- Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- Must be currently enrolled as a student at the University of Colorado Boulder in a minimum of 3 credit hours in good academic and judicial standing
- 2 years of work experience with professional photo equipment
- 2 years of work experience with Adobe’s Lightroom, Photoshop and/or Camera Raw applications
- 2 years of work experience importing and organizing video and photo content
- Creative mindset with an eye for composition and the ability to create visually appealing content
- Must have advanced organizational skills
- Must take initiative, follow instructions, be flexible, open to feedback and punctual
- Ability to work with diverse groups of individuals and communicate effectively
- Experience with digital asset database and metadata management
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
Preferred Qualifications (Not Required):
- Video production experience with mirrorless cameras
- Including audio capture experience
- Video editing experience using Adobe Premiere Pro
- Experience with Audition, Media Encoder and After Effects is a plus
- Strong knowledge and understanding of various social media platform photo and video formats
