Members of the GOLD Board during their Fall 2019 meeting.
The Graduates of the Last Decade (GOLD) Board enhances the relationship between the College of Engineering and Applied Science and its recent graduates in a way that encourages alumni to maintain their close connections with the college and university at large, while simultaneously adding value to the reputation and contributions of the college. The board currently has two sub-committees that are focused on engaging with current students and recent engineering alumni.
If you have questions or want to learn more about the board, contact Cameron Deverel-Rico, program manager for alumni engagement, at cameron.deverelrico@colorado.edu.

While graduation is an exciting time, it’s often a major adjustment for new graduates to find their right fit in industry. As a recent graduate myself, I’ve bounced across multiple career paths before finding my niche where I’m able to employ my unique skillset. My mission as a GOLD Board member is to remove the trial and error by applying a focus on maximizing unique, personal value that best ensures a smooth landing into industry roles for students.
Technology Engineer | BASF
Current city: Baton Rouge, LA
Hobbies: Hiking, Reading, Travel
I joined the GOLD Board because I want to enable others to connect with and build up the strong alumni network that we have at CU Boulder. As I have moved across the country several times since graduation, I have appreciated the support from fellow alumni in establishing roots in new cities. We have a shared experience in graduating from the same university, and I believe that there is a lot to gain from keeping up those connections.

During my student years at CU, some of my professors took special efforts to facilitate communication with industry professionals. This has been incredibly important in helping me shape my career. By joining the GOLD Board, I'd like to contribute and develop new methods to continue bridging the gap between academia and industry so that students have more exposure to industry professionals which will enable them to be better prepared for the life ahead.

After graduating, I became involved with the Alumni Association-Forever Buffs. I noticed the College of Engineering & Applied Science wasn’t as connected with its alumni, especially young alumni, as some of the other Colleges at CU. I joined the GOLD Board to help improve this as well as to bring the heuristics and best practices I’ve learned from the other universities where I have been affiliated to CU.

The post-grad life was intimidating to me as a student at CU, even though I was well-equipped with the education that I received through the Engineering School. I hope to be able to help current students feel confident in their skills and explore various career paths that are maybe not the typical path after getting a CU engineering degree.
Software Development Engineer | Amazon
Current city: Bellevue, WA

My time at CU was incredibly significant in helping me choose a path toward success for the rest of my life. At CU, I was able to challenge myself and become a well-prepared engineer before my first job. I loved my experiences getting involved in the Access and Inclusion Mentoring Program, the Google Developers Student Club, the Aerospace Graduate Student Organization, and as a Senator for the CEAS in the Graduate and Professional Student Government. I feel proud of the mark I was able to leave on CU during my time, as well as grateful for the mark that CU has left on me simultaneously. It is an honor to be representing the recent graduates of the CEAS and helping foster mentoring and proper preparation for future CU graduates. Sko buffs!
