GiBLiT is a highly mobile, unidirectional, point-to-point optical communication system that is enabled by Computer Vision tracking, designed to replace conventional omnidirectional Radio Frequency (RF) antennas for uplinks to Unmanned Aerial Systems. Our tracking station follows a fiducial attached to the UAS, which is equipped with our receiver and accounts for the parallax between the camera frame and the point of laser contact. This optical solution offers enhanced security over RF due to the minimization of interpretable side-lobes and promises higher communication rates.
