We collaborated with Medtronic to facilitate the validation of advanced motor technology for their upcoming iteration of surgical staplers. Surgical staplers rely on motors to operate with precision and accuracy. Testing motors manually is time-consuming, requires an expensive suite of test equipment, and demands a thorough understanding of motor mechanics from the test engineer to calculate key motor parameters. Our DC Motor Testbench makes the testing of DC motors trivial with a convenient CSV output, live graphing, and an auto-characterization mode. The Graphical User Interface (GUI) will display real-time results of the testbench and flawlessly calculate desired motor parameters with minor human input. Medtronic engineers can use this testbench both to determine the quality of the motor during the production stage and to test various stress conditions during product development of the surgical stapler.
