Vickey earned her Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering and her Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering with a Biomedical Option, both from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 2002. She transitioned her internship at Ball Aerospace into a full time role supporting a multitude of programs including the Mars Exploration Rovers, Orion Vision Navigation Sensor, and Green Propellant Infusion Mission, technical leadership roles on cutting-edge programs for a diverse set of Government customers, as well as leading Digital Transformation strategic implementation with a focus on Model-Based Systems Engineering.
After 21 years at Ball, Vickey moved over to Sierra Space, where she served as the Director of Systems Engineering and Integration for Sierra Space's Destinations sector. There, she was responsible for establishing the infrastructure, education, data governance, and processes required to make Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) a successful standard approach for the Destinations sector of Sierra Space. Vickey has returned to BAE Systems Inc to continue leading Systems Engineers through the transition to modern digital capabilities throughout the business.
Vickey has over 23 years of experience in the aerospace industry in the field of Systems Engineering, Integration, and Test, in every phase of the program lifecycle from mission ideation to disposal. She is passionate about guiding the future of Systems Engineering and building a pipeline of accomplished graduates who will bring a fresh perspective to industry with a game-changing skillset and mindset.
Vickey is a Colorado native, has co-authored several technical papers, and is the recipient of three NASA Group Achievement and Team Excellence awards.
