Alumna interviewed on Soviet Venus lander

Smead Scholar Shaylah Mutschler (AeroEngr MS'17, PhD'22) was interviewed by 9News about the Kosmos-482 Venus lander, which malfunctioned on launch in 1972 and became marooned in Earth orbit. It finally returned in an uncontrolled reentry May 10 over the Indian Ocean.

New Venture Challenge recognizes aerospace teams

The CU Boulder 2025 New Venture Challenge recently culminated with a final showcase with six teams competing for startup funding:

Odin Astronomy, a team helmed by aerospace PhD students Hunter Ray, Zaki Laouar and Ben Kraske finished third in the open category, earning $6,000.
GhostCo, a team led by Professor Keith Gremban, finished third in the Deep Tech category, also earning $6,000.
