Xinzhao Chu gave a Distinguished Lecture in Singapore at the 2025 Asia Oceania Geosciences Society conference Solar-Terrestrial (ST) Science Section. She was nominated to address the conference by a colleague. Her presentation was titled “Exploring the Geospace-Atmosphere System with LIDAR."

ASTR5140 introduces MHD (magnetohydrodynamics) as applied to space and astrophysical phenomena such as magnetic reconnection, shocks, turbulence, particle acceleration, accretion disks, the solar corona and solar wind, and more. Recent results from NASA missions such as the Parker Solar Probe and the Magnetospheric Multiscale mission are discussed by Prof. Robert Ergun.

We are interested in individuals with extensive industrial experience, can help us build relationships with industry, and can enhance our senior design program. A graduate degree in Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering (Master or PhD), or a related field is welcome, but a long career with industrial experience is strongly recommended and highly desired.
