Mahmoud Hussein delivered a keynote lecture at the UK Metamaterials Network Conference on Acoustic Metamaterials in Exeter, England on Apr. 10. The title of his presentation was “Phononic subsurfaces: Phonon engineering by crystals and metamaterials for flow control."

Congratulations to Isabella Bates for being named CU Boulder Undergraduate Student Employee of the Year in the Technology and Innovation category! A senior studying applied math and computer science, Bates is part of the GHOST research grant led by Research Professor Keith Gremban.

The Bachelor’s–Accelerated Master’s (BAM) Program offers currently enrolled undergraduates the opportunity to receive a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in a shorter period of time.

We are seeking interested graduate students and postdocs to present a talk this coming fall at Fiske. We offer early career scholars a chance to develop talks on a variety of scientific topics (beyond just astronomy!) that intersect with society to be delivered to a broad public audience.

Application to give a talk. We’re excited to continue our three Science Under the Dome tracks: The Science of Sci-Fi, which explores scientific ideas through the lens of popular science fiction books and movies; Science and Society, which delves into science’s impact on our community and the world; and Climate Change in Our Backyard, which explores the local implications of our changing climate. New this year is our Science and Art track! We recommend selecting a topic that interests you and fits within one of these tracks, but we require that your talk not be based primarily on your active research.
