Smead Aerospace Faculty/Staff News - Sept. 9

Mahmoud Hussein spoke last week at the joint 16th International Conference on Vibration Problems (ICOVP-2025) & 11th International Conference on Wave Mechanics and Vibrations (WMVC-2025). His lecture was titled "Damping and Energy Harvesting Properties of Advanced Elastic Metamaterials."

Keiko Hunt is receiving the Staff Incentive Award in recognition of her work as a financial specialist in Smead Aerospace. "Keiko Hunt was instrumental in keeping research finance operations running smoothly last spring by managing the department-wide ticketing system and supporting faculty and graduate students."

Aaron Allred (AeroEngr MS'21, PhD'24) (Advisors: Allie Hayman & Torin Clark) is receiving the 2025 Post Doc of the Year Award from the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs. The honor recognizes his "exceeding even faculty-level publishing expectations, while also providing thoughtful mentorship to graduate students and building a collaborative, inclusive lab culture."

The CU Boulder AeroBuffs Club Outstanding Alumni Awards highlight superior professional achievement and service to the engineering profession in multiple categories, and for both senior and earlier career graduates. Self-nominations are welcome.

This annual expo features NASA-funded AREN kite technology and offers a broader impact opportunity to engage with the public.

We invite your team to join us for the event to showcase your lab's or organization's work via displays, demonstrations, and hands-on activities to educate and engage the public about aerospace, aeronautics, and atmospheric sciences.
