Michael Drews
Chief Engineer Vice President, Lockheed Martin Space • Member 2022 - 2026

Michael Drews is the Chief Engineer Vice President for LM Space, where he leads the technical excellence and innovation strategies for over 10,000 engineers across five Spacecraft and Missile mission areas. He’s an executive leader with over 30 years of system development experience on Classified, DoD and NASA programs. He’s helped engineer multiple next generation systems that pushed boundaries in national aerospace capabilities.

Before joining LM in 2000, he began his career at NASA Ames Research Center, and worked in two other companies in Silicon Valley in the 1990s, one of which he co-founded. He’s the passionate innovator of a multi-generational STEM event called STEMScape, for which he won the 2021 AAS Sally Ride Excellence in Education Award. He was also awarded the 2018 AIAA Rocky Mountain Chapter Engineer of the Year and has been active contributor/chapter officer for AAS, AIAA and IEEE. In 2022, he began serving on the University of Colorado Smead Aerospace Engineering Sciences (AES) External Advisory Board. He holds an MS in Mechanical Engineering from Santa Clara University and a BS in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Colorado Boulder.
