Karl Edquist

Mr. Karl Edquist works in the Engineering Directorate at NASA’s Langley Research Center, where he has been employed since 2000. He specializes in aerodynamic and aerothermodynamic analysis of planetary entry vehicles for NASA planetary science missions and as a Principal Investigator for technology development projects. He was Aerothermal Lead for NASA’s Mars Science Laboratory and Mars 2020 missions, and Principal Investigator for Propulsive Descent testing in the Langley Unitary Plan Wind Tunnel.  Currently, he is the Aerosciences Lead for the Mars Sample Return’s Sample Retrieval Lander and the Entry, Descent, and Landing Deputy Phase Lead for the Dragonfly mission to Titan. He earned degrees from the University of Colorado (BS Aero., 1991) and the University of Maryland (MS Aero., 1993).  He is an Associate Editor of the AIAA Journal of Spacecraft and Rockets and an AIAA Associate Fellow.
