Professor Iain Boyd discusses Ukraine's missile defenses and hypersonic weapons in a new article in Newsweek.
Boyd, who is also the director of the CU Boulder Center for National Security Initiatives, is a leading researcher in hypersonic aerothermodynamics.
Hypersonic weapons present major new challenges to national defense systems for nations worldwide, include the United States.
"We really don't have anything today that would give a much better protection against these weapons," he said. "Most of the hypersonic weapons fired against the Ukraine, or us, today—most of them would get through. Not all of them, but most of them would."
