Jeff GlusmanJeff Glusman is joining the Ann and H.J. Smead Department of Aerospace Engineering Sciences as a new assistant teaching professor.

He has a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the Pennsylvania State University, MS in Aeronautics & Astronautics from the University of Washington and a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from CU Boulder.

His studies have focused on advanced thermal-fluid systems and processes, both experimentally and computationally.

Prior to joining the department, he worked as a research assistant at CU Boulder performing computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations of the pyrolysis, ignition and combustion of biomass to better understand the feasibility and accuracy of using finite-rate chemistry. He taught three courses throughout his PhD program and was awarded the John and Mercedes Peebles Innovation in Education Award in 2021.

His work at UW included the initial testing and modeling of a baffled-tube ram accelerator, a novel high-enthalpy thrust device for projectals.

Between his graduate studies, Jeff worked as an adjunct instructor at various community colleges in the Seattle area teaching engineering and math courses.

Outside the classroom Jeff enjoys hiking and backpacking, bouldering, working on projects around the house and is learning to woodwork. He is looking forward to joining the CU Boulder aerospace community and continuing to pursue and incorporate engineering education research practices.
