A message from the Chair

With the fall 2020 semester underway, we have made major changes in our instruction and research to adjust to the world under COVID-19.

The faculty, staff and university personnel are all working incredibly hard to build an educational experience to give students the engineering education they deserve while keeping everyone as safe as possible.

As you have undoubtedly seen in your own jobs and lives, it has been a Herculean challenge. We have adopted strong physical distancing and mask requirements, but hands-on laboratory experiences are critical to Smead Aerospace, and these have been difficult to replicate in this new modality.

Students can no longer closely gather in groups to build experiments. We have made an array of technology purchases to allow lab projects to continue in this new, physically-distanced world, and I want to extend a heartfelt thanks to our AeroBuffs Alumni for making these equipment purchases possible.

Alumni have stepped up in a big way during this pandemic to provide the resources necessary to continue our strong hands-on engineering education. Your donation, whether now during COVID-19, or in the future, helps us build on our educational mission.

I know we are in an uncertain time, but if you have the ability to donate, your gift will have an immediate impact in building the next generation of aerospace engineers.

I look forward to seeing you all again, in person, when this is all behind us.
