Return to On-Campus Research and Creative Work FAQs

If you need more cleaning supplies, contact your building liaison.

  • The university is requiring that anyone returning to campus wear a facial covering. This requirement may change over time.
  • Both the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Colorado Mask Project have tips for making masks out of household material and proper wear.
  • Currently, the university is not requiring the use of other forms of PPE for all employees, including gloves, unless the type of work requires it. If you feel that your work requires different forms of PPE, speak to your supervisor.
  • If your research required PPE before COVID-19, you should continue to purchase those supplies directly from your supplier.
  • Stay home if you are sick.
  • Follow your department process for notifying your supervisor.
  • If you start feeling unwell while on campus, notify your supervisor and return home, following any protocols for your school, department or program.
  • Complete the health questionnaire and illness reporting form.
  • Avoid contact with others except when seeking medical care. Watch for cough, shortness of breath and fever. If you feel ill, call your health care provider before going in for an appointment or if you have any questions or health concerns.

If you have symptoms of a possible COVID-19 infection, it is recommended that you be tested. There are several ways to do this:

  • Contact your primary care provider.
  • Those with CU Boulder Gold Student Health insurance can contact Medical Services at 303-492-5101 to arrange a telehealth consultation for COVID-19 testing.
  • Get tested at a community COVID-19 testing center.

If you feel that someone working on campus is sick or is creating an unsafe working environment, follow your department process for notifying your supervisor or contact the Employee Relations office in Human Resources by calling 303-492-6475.

All facilities requests, including HVAC modifications, plexiglass/barrier installations or other major equipment installations, should be routed through the Facilities Management Operations Control Center (campus network connection or CU VPN required) via your building proctor or department leadership. Facilities Management personnel are also in the process of contacting colleges and academic units to assess their overall building needs related to COVID-19 mitigation measures.

The Office of Infrastructure and Sustainability has a webpage outlining the measures being taken on campus to minimize spread of COVID-19 in buildings.

The university has changed its policies around building access on campus to encourage social distancing and ensure the safety of faculty, staff and students. For more information, see the building access FAQs.

CU Boulder Police officers are patrolling the campus twenty-four hours a day and seven days a week. Officers are conducting extra patrols inside buildings as requested. For more information, please contact CUPD Dispatch at 303-492-6666.
