Buff Ride
Beginning October 1, getting to East Campus is going to get a little bit easier. CU Boulder’s Transportation team is working on a convenient, app-based transit option to replace the current Marine Street Express Buff Bus route. With just a few taps, riders will be able to request a ride to one of eight designated stops, including the CINC building and other key locations in the Marine Street zone.
Stops include:
- Euclid & 18th (across from the CASE building)
- C4C westbound (Regent Drive, south side of the Center for Community)
- C4C eastbound (Regent Drive, across from the Center for Community (C4C))
- Regent at Lot 436 (Regent Drive, across from the Engineering building)
- Marine Street Science Center (3394 Marine Street, Boulder, CO 80303)
- OIT (East Campus Computing Center) 3760 Marine Street, Boulder, CO 80303)
- CINC (Center for Innovation and Creativity) (1777 Exposition Dr, Boulder, CO 80301)
- Distribution Center and CU Boulder Surplus Store (3300 Walnut St, Boulder, CO 80301)
The app will provide real-time wait estimates and Buff Ride vehicles will offer ADA accessibility. Buff Ride represents the next evolution in inter-campus transit. Whether you're heading to class, a meeting, or just need a quick ride across campus, the new service will put flexibility and efficiency at your fingertips.
How to request a ride
- Download the Buff Ride app from the Apple App Store or Google Play (need updated links)
- Select “Log In with CU” (not doing SSO - need updated instructions here)
- Enter your IdentiKey and password and tap “Login”
- Enter your phone number and tap “Confirm”
- Request your ride!
Buff Ride uses accessible ADA service buses
Our drivers are trained in how to secure passengers safely. If you would like to utilize this service, please request it through the CU Buff Ride app by selecting 'Accessibility' and entering the quantity of wheelchairs. (need updated instructions here)
Rules of the road
- Buff Ride only operates within Boulder city limits and at designated Buff Ride stop locations.
- Service must be requested through the Buff Ride app.
- Riders may be asked to show their CU Buff OneCard to ride. Those who do not have their Buff OneCard available will be given a ride at the discretion of the driver.
- In an effort to maintain efficiency, drivers will wait two minutes for you at the requested stop location. If you miss your ride, your ride will be canceled and you must request a new one. To maintain the reliability of the service, riders who are no-shows for three requested rides in a year will be unable to request rides for the remainder of the year.
- Buff Ride reserves the right to refuse to escort individuals who act in an unsafe manner, exploit the service or harass personnel or their escorts. Acting in an unsafe manner includes, but is not limited to, refusing to follow an driver’s safety instructions (i.e. not wearing a seat belt), possession of a weapon, or exhibiting violent or threatening behavior. In the event of refusal of service, our staff will make other safe transportation suggestions. If a person is refused service, they may be banned from future use of the service and may face other disciplinary actions from CU.

The Buff Ride app is developed by Spare, the same company that developed the CU Night Ride app.
